Guacamole Time!
This recipe is perfect for a gathering or to enjoy over a couple of days.
You’ll need:
- 6 Avocados
- 2 Medium Roma Tomatoes
- 2 Jalapeños
- 1 bunch of Cilantro
- 1 Lime
Instructions:
- Prep your ingredients:
- Cut the avocados in half, remove the pit, and scoop into a large bowl.
- Dice the Roma tomatoes.
- Finely chop the jalapeños (remove seeds if you want it less spicy).
- Chop a handful of cilantro (about ¼ of the bunch, or to taste).
- Cut the lime in half.
- Mash it up:
- Mash the avocados with a fork until smooth but still a little chunky.
- Mix it together:
- Stir in the tomatoes, jalapeños, and cilantro.
- Add the zing:
- Squeeze the juice of the lime over the guacamole.
- Add a pinch of salt (optional) to bring it all together.
- Taste & adjust:
- Want more spice? Add more jalapeño.
- More brightness? Another squeeze of lime.
Tips:
- For best results, use ripe avocados. If your avocados are not ripe, set them on your counter instead of the fridge for a warmer ambient temperature. Putting them in a paper bag can promote faster ripening as well.
- Guacamole browns quickly due to the avocado. If you’re not serving it right away, you can minimize browning by leaving the pit in the guacamole and pressing plastic wrap directly onto the surface.
- Enjoy your delicious homemade guacamole with tortilla chips, on tacos, or with your favorite veggies!
